ART OF PAPER

Design often starts with a simple pen or pencil and paper. This is because it allows ideas to be easily laid out without complex software. This page presents all of my sketching work for my designs. I also update this page regularly with any new work, so check back often to see my latest work.

Perspective

Part of Architecture is displaying your ideas to a client, and the perspective affects how your client will see the project. The first set of images is a plan, section and elevation of Coventry Cathedral at 1:200 scale. The second image is a 2-point perspective of a typical street in New York, with the third image being a similar style but in a 3-point perspective. The fourth image is a simple sketch of a large and small house, with an outer border sat at a different perspective.

Analysis

Sketching can also be used to analyse a design and help to understand its construction. The first two images are my analysis of Coventry Cathedral, particularly its roof design, which I found particularly interesting. The last image is an analysis of The Chapel of Sound, which I spent some time researching for another project. This was also a chance to consider the spatial positioning of the different elements on the site.

Inside & Out

These images show varying perspectives of the Tate Modern from its interior and exterior. With these drawings, I experimented with drawing a perspective that was different to my view whilst drawing.

Revolving View

This drawing is part of an idea I had where the view outside the window can change by moving a strip of paper that is behind. I have currently only drawn one view, but I plan to continue drawing more in the future.

Hotel Project

Also featured in the Bahrain Hotel Project page, these drawings are my initial sketches to begin to create the design of my Bahrain Hotel project.
