LED SIGN

What is it?

Created of 713 addressable LEDs arranged in a 23 x 31 array, this project is a portable and lightweight screen capable of showing low resolution video.

How does it work?

Each LED is wired in arrays which combine together to form the screen. Binary images files are stored in a Tiny 2040’s internal memory and a Python script displays each image in quick succession to show video.

In action.

The diffuser layer reduces the contrast of each LED and helps create a more unified image from closer distances.

Conclusion…

Given this project only used waste materials from old projects and scrap wood, it works well with minimal faults. However, the use of a painting canvas and frame would allow a more even surface and diffusion across the screen.
